FAQ / Help
Eventually this page will have much more useful information on it - I just need to compile everything first.
Submitting Artists
Artist Name, Location, and whether or not the band is active are all required fields. Website and description are optional, but it's highly recommended to add them.
Artist names beginning with "The" must be in the format of "Artist Name, The". When viewing them on the site, they will appear "The Artist Name".
Remember to use correct capitalization - The First Letter Of Every Word Is Capitalized.
Submitting Releases
You must add all of the artists to this release that are associated on it - regardless if it's just one artist, or a compilation with 20. All of them need to be added. If any artists are on this release that are not in the database already, it is up to you to add them. You can switch to the "Add Artist" tab and quickly add artists without losing your progress on the "Add Release" tab.
To add artists to a release, start typing their name in the first Artists: box and select their name from the autocomplete list. If you need to add multiple artists, click the green + button to add more input boxes.
For "split" releases, enter the title as "Split" (without quotes) and then add the artists to the database UNLESS the release has an official title.
There is no need to add such things as 'LP,' 'EP,' or '7"' at the end of the title, unless it is part of the actual release name. This information will show up on the pressing info page.
For 'self titled' releases (where the title of the release is the same as the band) enter in the band name as the title.
Remember to use correct capitalization - The First Letter Of Every Word Is Capitalized.
Pressing Information
1. Select the primary country/region this was released in. If you are not sure, select "Unknown". Sometimes a release will be put out by multiple labels in different countries... use your best guess as to what the primary country should be.
2. Select a press number, or 'Unknown'
3. Select a release date. Date format is MM-DD-YYYY, fill in zeros if you are unsure of any values, but date must still be in that exact format. e.g. If it was released in 2008 but you are unsure of the day/month, enter "00-00-2008".
4. Add the labels associated with this release. Start typing a label name and choose it from the autocomplete list. If you do not select it from the list, it will not be added. To add multiple labels, click the green
icon to show more input boxes and repeat the process. If a label you want to add isn't in the database yet, click 'Quick-add a new label' to do a quick add. It will immediately be available to use in the pressing info, even though it hasn't been approved yet. (This will not interrupt your current progress).5. Enter as many color variations that you know exist. Only the 'Color' field is required here. If a certain color has silkscreen covers, or is 180 gram, then you fill in the 'details' field with those notes. If all you know is that a release is available on Black vinyl, then simply enter "Black" into the color field. If you don't know how many were released, leave it blank. To add multiple colors, click the green
icon to show more input boxes.6. Enter the quantity of sizes for this release. If the release is a double LP, then you enter "2" next to the 12" box. If the release is a double LP with a bonus 7", then you add "2" in the 12" box and "1" in the 7" box.
7. Enter any other notes about this release that you feel is necessary to include.
8. Enter your source for information - the label's website, the hand-numbering on the record, or even something like your own knowlege. This will help the moderators when it comes to checking the validity of the information submitted.
9. Press "Add Pressing Info". You will be shown a preview of what the information will look like when it goes live on the page. If everything is correct, press "Accept & Submit" - this will send to the moderators approval. If you need to make changes, click "Make Changes" (obviously).
